Becky Staples is Vice President at Sun American Mortgage with nearly 20 years of industry experience and more than $1 billion in career-funded loans. A top-100 U.S. loan officer by volume, Becky brings a disciplined, systems-driven approach to production. She joins the Loan Atlas faculty to help newer loan officers build sustainable success through fundamentals, structure, and consistent execution.
Becky Staples has been in the mortgage industry since 2006, closing over $1 billion in personal loan production and helping more than 3,600 families become homeowners. Consistently ranked among the top 100 loan officers in the U.S., Becky brings nearly two decades of high-level production, humor, and hard-won wisdom to her role as a Loan Atlas faculty member.
Becky teaches from the trenches—not the textbook. She’s known for making complex lending strategy understandable, actionable, and actually enjoyable to learn. Her superpower? Combining deep financial insight (yes, she’ll make tax return reviews feel simple) with process-driven systems that scale, reduce chaos, and help loan officers build businesses they actually enjoy running.
As a primarily direct lender with underwriting, processing, and closing all in-house, Becky has honed how to streamline workflows, strengthen team communication, and create a consistently smooth borrower experience. While she understands how to navigate unique or less traditional financial profiles, her true expertise lies in designing smart, efficient systems that make the everyday loan process feel effortless for both clients and loan officers.
Outside of lending, Becky lives in Southern Utah with her husband, three kids, dog, cows and 20+ chickens who definitely didn’t expect to be part of a mortgage bio. She loves hiking the red rocks, practicing yoga, and getting lost in a good book. A valedictorian graduate with a BS in Business and a focus in Finance, Becky brings both brains and heart to everything she teaches.
